Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) continues to take significant steps in the production of goat milk tulum cheese, which it started last season. The MAKÜ Dairy Products and Technology Application and Research Center (UAM) Milk Processing Unit continues to support local milk producers by making cooperation agreements with goat breeders in the districts and villages of Burdur.

MAKÜ continues to stand by the farmers and producers in the region at all times. Milk is purchased from local producers for the dairy products produced in the enterprise facility established within the university. This season, agreements were signed with goat breeders in the districts of Çavdır, Gölhisar, and Karamanlı for the milk to be used in the production of goat tulum cheese.

The team consisting of Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hakan Öner, MAKÜ Dairy Products and Technology UAM Milk Processing Unit Production Manager Lecturer Aslı Albayrak Karaoğlu, Burdur Province Breeding Sheep and Goat Breeders Association President Veterinarian Mustafa Yıldız, and Agriculture and Forestry Directorate Çavdır District Director Osman Şimşek held meetings with goat breeders in these three districts. As a result of the meetings, agreements were made for the use of goat milk in the goat tulum cheese produced at the MAKÜ Milk Processing Center.

Prof. Dr. Hakan Öner stated that these agreements greatly contribute to both the local economy and the university's academic studies. “By cooperating with local producers, we aim to bring Burdur's quality dairy products to wider audiences. At the same time, we provide practical training opportunities to our students and support the local economy,” he said.

MAKÜ Dairy Products and Technology UAM Milk Processing Unit Production Manager Lecturer Aslı Albayrak Karaoğlu emphasized that they attach great importance to quality and hygiene standards in production processes. “We work meticulously to use the highest quality milk in the production of goat tulum cheese. This season, we will continue our production with the milk we will obtain from breeders in the region,” she said.

This cooperation with local producers ensures both the economic support of farmers and contributes to MAKÜ's production of quality and natural products. MAKÜ continues to make a significant contribution to the development of agriculture and animal husbandry in the region with such projects.
